An important update regarding Google Analytics
Dear Valued Client,
If you are currently using Google Analytics on a website property that DDC maintains, this contains important information about upcoming changes.
We are writing to inform you about an important update from Google regarding their web analytics platform. Google has recently announced that on July 1st, they transition away from Universal Analytics to Google Analytics 4 (GA4). As a trusted partner, we want to ensure you have all the information you need to make an informed decision about migrating to GA4.
GA4 brings many new features and improvements over Universal Analytics, including:
Enhanced cross-device tracking
Deeper integration with Google
Improved data privacy
However, migrating to GA4 also comes with some challenges, including:
Your data will not migrate to the new platform.
Learning curve
At DDC, we have been managing some of our client's Google accounts for many years, but we see this as an opportunity for our clients to have more control and ownership over their data. Therefore, we are asking our clients to set up their own Google Analytics accounts if they wish to continue leveraging Google as web-analytics platform.
Google Analytics is optional, and if you do not leverage Google Analytics for your campaign needs, you do not need to set up a new account. The absence of Google Analytics will not affect site performance or functionality.
We have created help articles at our On Demand portal to walk you through how to create a Google Account, setup Google Analytics, and how to authorize DDC access to your analytics data. Once completed, you can complete this form to have the tracking code updated on your website with the new account. If you do not proceed with these steps, your site will cease to collect web analytics and traffic data as of July 1st.
The DDC OnDemand team is certified in Google Analytics and is ready to provide support for your website's setup and analysis of the data collected through Google Analytics. With their expertise, they can help you understand your website traffic and user behavior at our standard billable rate. You can contact the DDC OnDemand team at ondemand@ddcpublicaffairs.com to learn more about their services and how they can assist you. We are here to help and support you every step of the way.
Best regards,
DDC OnDemand Team
